We all know that water keeps us alive. There would not be any life without it. However, we seem to prefer it at room temperature. Old wives tales continually keep us convinced that cold water will damage our teeth, make our bellies hurt or make us catch a cold. Although cold water can temporarily irritate sensitive teeth and make us feel a bit cold for a few moments, it actually has quite a lot of health benefits. First and foremost, cold water lowers the body’s temperature for a while. When your body needs a little aid to cool off, for example in hot weather or during exercise, drinking cold water can help significantly. Icy water can be beneficial when it comes to digestion as well. It makes you feel more full, thus stopping you from overeating. If you are struggling with weight loss, drinking cold water can be a great alternative to drinking sugary drinks or even hot water as the drop in temperature will help you burn some extra calories. So, despite the commonly heard stories, icy water is good for our bodies

Cold water and mental health

While cold water is great for our bodies, it can be even better for our minds. Cold rivers are usually great places for entertaining activities such as Soča river rafting or paddling in a Soča river kayak. Taking a stroll in a Soča river kayak or Soča river rafting help you escape your worries and free your mind. Sometimes, mental health is even more important than physical health so we need to make sure to give it some attention. Although simply taking a ride in a Soča river kayak or taking part in a Soča river rafting adventure does not sound like much, you would be surprised at how much it can actually help.
